SC refuses to interfere with demolition drive in Shaheen Bagh

New Delhi, May 9 : The Supreme Court on Monday refused to interfere with the petitions seeking direction into the matter concerning demolition in Shaheen Bagh area to remove encroachment. While refusing to interfere with the petitions filed by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and others, the Supreme Court said that none of the affected parties are before the Court and the petition has been filed by a political party. "Don't make this Court a platform for all this," the Bench, headed by Justice L Nageswara Rao and also comprising Justice B R Gavai, told the petitioners. "This is too much", it observed and refused to entertain the CPI(M)'s petition against anti-encroachment drive in Shaheen Bagh and other parts of Delhi. The Apex Court rather asked all such petitioners to approach the Delhi High Court for relief.

A bench of justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli dismissed the petition and said that it is not inclined to proceed any further. The court was hearing a plea to stop the alleged 'unauthorised, unlawful, and arbitrary distribution' of oxygen cylinders by Hussain in his constituency Ballimaran.

New Delhi, May 12 (UNI) The Delhi High Court on Wednesday stressed that it is high time that the government fix the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) payable for oxygen concentrators and other equipment used to treat COVID-19 to prevent their black marketing. A Bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli observed while issuing contempt notices to all the persons named in the FIRs lodged after May 2 in connection with hoarding and black marketing of medicines and equipment required for treating COVID-19 and directed them to appear before it virtually on May 19.
