New Delhi, June 11 : Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal will lead the Indian delegation at the 12th WTO Ministerial Conference which is all set to begin from June 12 in Geneva, Switzerland, officials informed on Saturday. The conference is being held after a gap of almost five years. The key areas of discussions and negotiations at this year’s conference include WTO’s response to the pandemic, fisheries subsidies negotiations, agriculture issues including Public Stockholding for Food security, WTO Reforms and Moratorium on Custom Duties on Electronic Transmission, an official statement said on Saturday.

Govt allows import of medical devices for 3 months

New Delhi, Apr 29 (UNI) The government on Thursday allowed import of medical devices, particularly oxygen devices, for three months to fight the COVID-19 pandemic which is sweeping the country. The government permitted importers of medical devices for making mandatory declarations after custom clearance and before sale, Commerce, Industry and Consumer Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal said. "Govt. under the leadership of PM @NarendraModiiji permits importers of medical devices for making mandatory declarations required under Legal Metrology Rules, 2011 after custom clearance & before sale. This will help fulfil demand of medical devices required for COVID-19," said Goyal in a tweet.
