Marco storm becomes hurricane heading towards Gulf of Mexico

A storm named Marco that has swirled over the Gulf of Mexico now has become a hurricane, said the US National Hurricane Center .

Marco was heading for a potential hit on the Louisiana coast. Laura Tropical Storm, another potential hurricane, battered the Dominican Republic and Haiti and headed to the same part of the US coast. Maximum winds of the Marco hurricane were 75 miles per hour (120 kilometers per hour), said the hurricane center. The data from the US Air Force had indicated that Marco had become a hurricane
