UP Budget: Govt aims at empowering daughters and women

Lucknow, Feb 22 (UNI) The Yogi Government in the state continuing its thrust on pro-women, pro-rural and pro-poor initiatives, laid special emphasis on the welfare of women and empowerment of daughters in the state through its paperless Budget for the financial year 2021-22 in the state assembly on Monday.

The budget reflects the vision of the Yogi-led UP government to empower women at grassroots levels in the state. Through the golden announcements for growth of the women in the Budget, the government has reiterated its resolve towards women safety, dignity and empowerment.

For improved implementation of Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana which revolves around the upliftment of deprived daughters of the state, Rs 1200 crore have been earmarked. Under this scheme, tablets will be distributed to equip the talented daughters with advanced technology.

The government also proposed a provision of Rs 100 crore to resolve the problem of malnutrition among women and children under the Mukhyamantri Saksham Suposhan Yojana.
Along with this, provisions of Rs 4094 crore and Rs 415 crore have respectively been made for the Nutritional Programme and National Nutrition Campaign.

The Government also proposed Rs 200 crore for its new initiative – ‘Mahila Samarthya Yojana’ to push women and daughters on the path of development. With this, a provision of Rs 32 crore was also proposed for a special drive to strengthen women by establishing Mahila Shakti Kendras in the state.
