DVAC raids Environ dept SP premises, seize huge haul of cash, jewellery

Chennai, Dec 15 (UNI) Sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) after prolonged raids seized huge haul of cash, jewellery, including diamonds, and properties from the residential and office premises of the Tamil Nadu Environment Depatment Superintendent here.

The raids, which began yesterday morning, continued till late in the evening during which Rs 1.37 crore cash, huge quantities of gold and other valuables were seized from the house of Superintendent Pandian.

After searching his office at Pangal Maligai, a DVAC team raided his house and effected the seizure. Acting on a specific information, a special team first raided his office and seized Rs 88,500 unaccounted, a DVAC release said today.

Later, they searched his residence and seized Rs 1.37 crore in cash, 3.08 kg of gold jewels (valued at Rs 1.22 crore), 3,343 grams of silver (Rs 1.51 lakh) and some diamonds with 10.52 K purity (Rs 5.40 lakh), 18 property documents worth Rs seven crore, Rs 38.66 lakh in his bank account, and Rs 37 lakh invested in fixed deposits, besides two cars
and three two-wheelers.
