COVID-19 cases breach 1.72 lakh mark in Telangana

Hyderabad, Sep 21 (UNI) With 1,302 new Coronavirus positive cases reported, Telangana’s COVID-19 case tally rose to 1,72,608 till 2000 hours on Sunday, while the toll mounted to 1,042 with nine more COVID-19 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.

During the last 24 hours, 2,230 patients had recovered from the contagious virus pushing the total recoveries in the state till date to 1,41,930 constituting a recovery rate of 82.22 per cent as against the National average of 79.87 per cent.

The case fatality rate remained less than one per cent at 0.60 per cent in the state while the country-wide mortality rate was 1.60 per cent, a state health department bulletin said on Monday.

Between Saturday and Sunday, 31,095 COVID-19 sample tests were conducted and of them the reports of 1,205 samples were awaited. Overall, 25,19,315 COVID-19 sample ests had been conducted in the state since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic. The number of active cases in the state now stood at 29,636.

Interestingly, the number of positive cases registered during the last 24 hours were less than 2,000 and only two districts –Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits (266) and Karimnagar (102) –contributed more than 100 cases during the last 24 hours. The remaining fresh cases were reported from other districts in the state, the bulletin added.
