Delhi air remains ‘poor’

New Delhi, Dec 11 (UNI) National Capital’s air quality on Friday reeled under ‘poor’ category with average air quality index measuring at 272, the Central Pollution Control Board said. It was poor in the neighbouring cities like Ghaziabad, Noida , Faridabad and Gurugram as well, while being moderate at some places.

High relative humidity in the morning was pegged at 91 per cent and low temperature of 10.8 degrees further prevented dispersion of the particulate matter in the National Capital.

However, the weatherman has forecast mainly clear sky during the day and the wind speed is likely to increase towards the evening ,which may help making the air quality better.

The MET official has also forecast rain or thunderstorms on Saturday night that will likely reduce the pollution levels.

At several locations in Delhi, including Anand Vihar, Ghazipur, Chandni Chowk and others the air quality index was on the higher side , with the quality of air falling under the very poor category.
