DGP sanctions Rs 1.07 cr as ‘Welfare Relief Fund’ for NoKs of police personnel

Srinagar, Oct 15 (UNI) Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh on Thursday sanctioned Rs 1.07 crore as special welfare relief in favour of dependents and legal heirs of deceased personnel of Jammu and Kashmir police, a police spokesman said this evening.

He said continuing with its endeavour to provide financial assistance to the families of the police personnel who have passed away in harness, DGP sanctioned welfare relief.

The special welfare relief of Rs 20 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents or legal heirs of deceased personnel Head Constable (HC) Abdul Hamid Dar, Selection Grade Constable (SgCt) Nazir Ahmad, Woman costable Jabina Bano, Constable (Operator.) Ashaq Hussain Ganayee and Constable Umer Maqbool Ganie who had expired during service due to health-related issues.

Rs six lakh has been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of missing Sgct Mohammed Maqbool who was kidnapped by some unknown gunmen on 09.11.2005 from his residence and declared to be presumed dead by District Magistrate Kupwara. Rs one lakh has been sanctioned in favour of Constable Feroz Ahmad who was seriously injured in militant attack at Chanpora Srinagar.

Out of this amount Rs one lakh each has already been paid to the families or NoKs for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the Police headquarter through their concerned units. The financial assistance has been given out of Contributory Police Welfare Fund.

Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs. Besides, there are schemes for the NoKs of martyrs, their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their
