Dozens of rice samples found below par in MP

Bhopal, Sep 2 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday directed uncompromising action against those responsible for supply of substandard rice at some places in Balaghat and Mandla districts, official sources said.
“Those involved in inconsistencies including black-marketing of ration, fertiliser, etc will not be spared. Services of quality controllers have been terminated and a district manager in Balaghat placed under suspension. A first information report is being registered against millers concerned,” the senior politician averred.

A total 51 teams comprising Food Corporation of India and Food and Civil Supplies Corporation functionaries collected as many as 1,021 rice specimens. Preliminary investigation found 57 to be inferior.

As per a provision enshrined in the State Custom Milling Policy, low-grade rice supplied by the miller shall be returned and standard quality stuff obtained instead.
