Goa Governor appeals teachers to re-dedicate themselves to their profession

Panaji, Sep 4 (UNI) Goa Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Friday extended warm greetings and best wishes to the entire teaching fraternity of the state on the eve of Teacher’s Day and appealed to all the teachers to re-dedicate themselves to their profession and discharge their duties with renewed sense of responsibility, sincerity and vision.
In a message, he said,”Teacher’s Day is a tribute to the hard work and devotion of the teachers all year long, to educate a child. Teacher’s Day is dedicated to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was one of the most staunch advocates of education and one of the greatest scholars and teachers of all times, apart from being the first Vice President and the second President of India.”
The Governor said, “Especially during Covid pandemic time, when schools are closed down for safety of students, it is important to mention that the teachers have been putting significant efforts and time for online teaching to make sure the students are kept productive even at home. This is a commendable effort as many teachers who haven’t been technology savvy; especially the older staffs have trained themselves in order to reach out to their students. Therefore, every student and their parents owe a huge debt of gratitude to the teachers for making sure that a student could sit in the comfort of their homes and yet learn, during this difficult time. I urge the parents to extend all the support to the school administration and teachers in order to achieve success in the online teaching medium.”
Stating that teachers are nation-builders who mould young minds in the best way possible through their wisdom, advices and by imparting good values to make every individual a better citizen of the nation, the Governor said,”Teachers Day is an occasion which reflects the strong bonds between the teachers and their students.”
Mr Koshyari expressed happiness that National Education Policy, 2020, had focused on motivation and empowerment of teachers in order to ensure best possible future for children and nation. The policy, he said, also talked about restoring high respect for teachers and high status of the teaching profession so as to inspire the best to enter into it.
