India has to stay ‘very alert’ through festive season: Experts

New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) Data suggests that the first Covid wave is now receding for India at large, but the country has to stay ‘very alert’ through the entire festive season.
This was observed here on Sunday by thinkers, intellectuals and people from different walks of life, who maintained that “India cannot afford any complacency about the Covid-19 pandemic at all.”
The experts said that the pandemic’s trajectory is likely to be different in different states now which also calls for “monitoring of different types”.
Informatively, India recorded its six million recovery and the ninth consecutive day of decline in active Covid cases on Saturday.
At 74,205, though became the second country after the US to cross seven million confirmed Covid cases, daily cases remained below 80,000 for the eighth consecutive day.
“We have been waiting for this for months, and it is finally happening,” the experts exuded confidence of “beating the first wave” of the dreaded disease.
When asked-” Is this good augury for the festive season?” they commented in unison-“Yes, but only if we adopt Covid-adjusted celebrations.”
Incidentally, the “Navratri” Festival will start from October 17.
“Dussehera” will be celebrated on October 26.
