New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday laid the foundation stone for the new wing at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital. The building with a capacity of 1,500 beds is a step towards providing high-quality healthcare amenities in the city.
‘Today is a remarkable day for Delhi. A state of the art building with cutting edge medical technology block is being added in Delhi’s LNJP hospital. With an additional 1500 beds, this building will increase the overall capacity of LNJP hospital to 3800 beds. In 2.5 years, LNJP will be one of the biggest hospitals in the country with a modular design and modern medical infrastructure,”Mr Kejriwal said.
“Delhi, is the national capital and therefore a microcosm of the nation. It should have access to everything world-class. This new wing at LNJP is valued at Rs 462 crore, with per bed costing around Rs 30 lakh. Other governments spend Rs 1-1.5 crore per bed, but we believe in smart spending and effective utilisation of budget. In the last 5 years, it has been of utmost importance that we improve the living standards of the people of Delhi. AAP government has completed projects on time and saved cost as well which is then further utilised for the betterment of the city,” the Chief Minister said.
Adding to this, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that keeping in mind the requirements of the citizens, the building will have 3 main departments, a new medical block, new maternity and an advanced paediatric department.
