Kochi Metro Ph-1 completed with commissioning of Thykoodam-Petta stretch: Puri

New Delhi, Sep 7 (UNI) The Kochi Metro Phase 1 has been completed with the commissioning of Thykoodam-Petta stretch, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri announced on Monday.

Phase-1 of the Kochi Metro has been completed at a cost of Rs 6218 crore.

He further said that the proposal for Phase-2 of Kochi Metro is under active consideration of the Government of India and would be approved soon.

Thykoodam-Petta stretch of Kochi Metro was inaugurated by Mr Puri and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan through video conference on Monday.

Addressing the gathering online, Mr Puri urged the people of the country to travel responsibly, while

adhering to various SOPs issued in different states for metro operations.

The Union Minister, along with the Kerala Chief Minister, flagged off the train from Petta at 1230 hrs in the virtual inauguration.

The commencement of civil works from SN Junction to Thrippunithura by unveiling the plaques was also done. Kerala Ministers, MPs, MLAs, Chief Secretary and senior officials also joined the virtual inauguration.
