No outcome from meeting between farmers, Agriculture secretary

New Delhi, Oct 14 (UNI) A meeting with regard to farm reform laws took place between the Farmer Organisations and the Agriculture Secretary on Wednesday, however, did not come to any conclusion and no decision could be taken in the same.

The government had invited 29 Farmer Organisations from Punjab for the talks over issues relating to agriculture and a meeting between Agriculture Secretary Sanjay Agrawal and the farmer bodies went on for around two hours , however, they could not reach to any decision.

The government has said that it is committed to protect the interest of farmers and its doors are always open to dialogue. Meanwhile, the farmer organisations had given two memorandums to the government on behalf of the farmers.

Later, the farmers said that they wanted to meet the Agriculture Minister, however, it did not happen. It is noteworthy that farmers organizations are agitating against the new agricultural reforms laws in Punjab.
