PM, Shah pay tribute to Dinkar on his birth anniv

New Delhi, Sep 23 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday paid tributes to legendary Hindi poet, essayist and patriot Ramdhari Singh Dinkar on his birth anniversary.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the PM said,” Humble tribute to ‘Rashtrakavi’ Ramdhari Singh Dinkar Ji on his birth anniversary. His classical poems will continue to inspire not only literary enthusiasts, but all the countrymen.”

Mr Shah said,”Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’ ji shone like a sun through his writings in the literary world as per his title. He fought against the British with the power of his pen during the independence movement and served the society with his ideas after independence.”

“With his poems filled with national sentiments, Dinkar ji raised the tone of nationalism. He fearlessly opposed the Emergency, the biggest attack on the democracy of the country, and his poem ‘Sinhasan Khali Karo, Ki Janta Aati Hai’, became the tone of that movement. Salute to ‘Rashtrakavi’ Dinkar,” added Mr Shah.

Dinkar emerged as a poet of rebellion as a consequence of his nationalist poetry written in the days before Indian independence. His poetry exuded veer rasa, and he has been hailed as a Rashtrakavi (national poet) on account of his inspiring patriotic compositions.

Dinkar was elected three times to the Rajya Sabha, and he was the member of this house from April 3, 1952 to January 26, 1964, and was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1959.
