SC stays Bombay HC order granting bail to Wadhawan brothers in Yes Bank case

New Delhi, Sep 3 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed Bombay High Court order which had granted bail to former Dewan Housing Finance Limited (DHFL) promoters, Wadhawan brothers — Kapil Wadhawan and Dheeraj Wadhawan in the Enforcement Directorate’s Yes Bank case.

The Apex Court bench, headed by Justice U U Lalit asserted that the stay has been granted till October 7, 2020.

Justice Bharati Dangre of the Bombay High Court had granted bail to Wadhawan brothers on the ground that there is a late filing of the case chargesheet by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

As per the prosecution, the Wadhawan brothers are the main accused in the Yes Bank case.

The ED, however, had stated that the agency had filed part of the chargesheet by e-mail a day before the statutory sixty-day period.

The Wadhawan brothers had been arrested on May 14 by the Enforcement Directorate.
