Southwest monsoon active, heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at one or two places in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 19 (UNI) As Southwest monsoon has been active over Kerala, heavy rainfall ranging from (7-11 cm in next 24 hours) to very heavy rainfall (11-20 cm in 24 hours) is very likely to occur at one or two places in Kerala on Saturday.
Rain and thundershowers are most likely to occur at most places in the state.
Moderate rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasargod districts in the next few hours, Met sources said here this morning.
Heavy rainfall (7-11 cm in next 24 hours) is very likely to occur at a few places with very heavy rainfall (11- 20 cm in 24 hours) is very likely to occur at one or two places in Kerala on September 20 and 21.
Strong wind with speed reaching 45-55 kmph is likely to prevail along and off Kerala, Karnataka Coasts and over Lakshadweep area.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas.
High waves in the range of 3.5-3.8 meters are forecasted till 2330 hrs on September 19 along the coast of Southern Tamil Nadu from Kolachal to Dhanushkodi.
Surface current speeds vary between 57 – 102 cm/sec, the sources added.
