MP Govt’s comprehensive welfare drive Anna Utsav launched

Bhopal, Sep 16 (UNI) Reiterating the Madhya Pradesh dispensation’s commitment vis-à-vis food for the indigent, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan averred on Wednesday that the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana was incorporated with the Mukhya Mantri Annapurna Yojana.
“As many as 37 lakh more people will be provided 5 kg of wheat/rice per family member and 1 kg iodised salt per family every month starting from September,” the senior politician was officially quoted as saying while inaugurating the state-level Anna Utsav at the city-based Samanvay Bhavan.

The event was conducted simultaneously in 22,549 rural and 3,368 urban areas across all 52 districts. The state has 25,176 fair price shops. Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, 27 lakh quintals grain and 1.17 lakh quintals of pulses were supplied to ration shops every month from April and this shall continue till November. Grain was also made available to 1.09 lakh families who came to Madhya Pradesh from different parts of the country.

“Necessitous women will be provided gas stoves. District collectors should fulfil the target of disbursing ration to approximately 1.66 lakh auto-rickshaw drivers,” the veteran leader added.
