France plans to fill gas storage facilities

Paris, July 27 : France is determined to fill all its strategic gas storage facilities up to 100 per cent by November 1, which exceeds the goals set out by the European Commission, Energy Transformation Minister Agnès Pannier-Runacher said on Wednesday.

PM to visit Germany, Denmark and France in May

New Delhi, April 27 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay an official visit to Germany, Denmark and France from May 2 to May 4, the Ministry of External Affairs informed on Wednesday. This will be the Prime Minister's first visit abroad in 2022. In Berlin, Prime Minister will hold bilateral talks with Olaf Scholz, Federal Chancellor of Germany, and the two leaders will co-chair the sixth edition of the India-Germany Inter-Governmental Consultations (IGC), the Ministry said. The biennial IGC is a unique dialogue format that also sees participation of several Ministers from both sides.

Moscow, Apr 26 (Sputnik) French oil company Total on Monday declared force majeure and the evacuation of all personnel from the Afungi Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project in northern Mozambique over terrorist-related security concerns. Mozambique LNG is projected to be the first onshore project in Mozambique. It includes the development of the Golfinho and Atum fields and the construction of a two-line liquefaction plant with a total capacity of 12.9 million tonnes of LNG per annum and expansion potential of up to 43 million tonnes. The start of production is scheduled for 2024. Total is the operator of the project with a 26.5 percent share. The cost of the project is estimated at $20 billion, the investment decision regarding it was made in 2019.

France goes into third national lockdown as cases surge sharply

Paris, Apr 4(UNI) France on Saturday entered its third national lockdown as the rise in the number of COVID cases threatens to overwhelm the country's medical system. Under the lockdown all schools and non-essential shops will be shut for four weeks, and a curfew will be in place from 19:00 to 06:00, while from Tuesday onward people will also need a valid reason to travel more than 10 km (six miles) from their homes, the BBC reported. On Friday, France reported that the number of seriously ill COVID patients in intensive care units (ICU) increased by 145, which is the biggest jump in five months. At present France has about 5,000 COVID patients in ICUs across the country. On Friday, the country recorded 46,677 new cases and 304 deaths.

Moscow, Apr 4 (Sputnik) France will have to revise its economic growth for 2021 down from 6 percent to 5 percent due to the coronavirus restrictions, Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire said in an exclusive interview with Journal du Dimanche (JDD). "Closing schools and 150,000 businesses is crucial to stopping the spread of the virus. But these measures will have an impact on the French economy. We are therefore going to revise our growth from 6% to 5% for 2021," the minister told the newspaper in an interview published late on Saturday.
