Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, CMD of Biocon tested positive for Covid-19 .The billionaire entrepreneur announced in a tweet on Monday that, “I have added to the Covid count by testing positive. Mild symptoms n I hope it stays that way.”
Recently, Shaw, a biotech industry veteran questioned over the claims made by Russia of developing the world’s first safe coronavirus vaccine, by citing the absence of data on clinical trials and more advanced programmes elsewhere..
Mazumdar Shaw said by referring to the potential corona virus vaccine which was developed by Gamaleya National Research Center based in Moscow for Epidemiology and Microbiology, that the world had not yet seen any evident data from the phase1 and phase2 human trials of the vaccine.
“If launching a vaccine prior to completion of Phase-III trials is acceptable to Russia, well so be it,” Mazumdar Shaw told PTI.
Biocon, one of the companies which is in the race of manufacturing drugs to fight against COVID-19 and last month in July, company received the approval of Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) to market Itolizumab, a repurposed injection. It was initially launched for treating chronic plaque psoriasis in 2013.
India have recorded more than 26.4 lakh cases of coronavirus and death cases, 50,921. Out of these more than 6.76 lakh are active cases while over 19.1 lakh have been recovered, according to the data updated by Health Ministry website.
