Gonda, Sep 1 (UNI) A minor was killed after he drowned in the Jhanna river in Barauli village of the Umribegumganj area of Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.
Four others were safely rescued.
Police sources here said that five children, hailing from the Barauli village’s Lalpurwa area, were grazing cattle near the Jhanna river, this morning. The kids were playing near the river bank when they slipped and fell into the river.
Upon hearing the screams of the children, the local people rushed to the spot and managed to rescue four of the children, but Kallu (10) drowned in the river.
The body was pulled out and has been sent for post-mortem.
