Algeria reports 146 new COVID-19 cases, 51,213 in total

Algiers, Sept 28 (Xinhua) Algeria on Monday reported 146 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest daily increase since June 29, bringing the total tally of infections to 51,213, the Ministry of Health said on Tuesday. The ministry also announced five new fatalities from the novel coronavirus, raising the country’s death toll to 1,719. Meanwhile, 102 more patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 35,962. Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune Monday announced in a meeting with officials from the sports sector that Algeria will resume all kinds of sport activities for championships.

The president stressed that Algerian players should resume their preparation for the Olympic Games 2021 in Japan and the Mediterranean Games of 2022 in Algeria, which were suspended due to the spread of COVID-19. Algeria, which reported its first COVID-19 case on February 25, has been resuming economic and commercial activities since June 7.
