New Delhi, Dec 15 (UNI) Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Tuesday threatened to tie cattle inside police stations in retaliation to the force’s treatment of the farmers approaching Delhi.
Mr Tikait told media that farmers heading to Delhi from various places in UP are being harassed by police at different points and said, “If police continue to harass the farmers nearing national capital then the protesters will be left with no option other than tying cattle inside the police stations.”
The farmer union leader has also threatened to block the Delhi -Meerut Highway if the situation seems to worsen. “If the need arises then the farmers will block Delhi completely,” he added.
Distancing the protest from politics, he said that the movement is not at all political and the government must talk to the farmer organisations to chalk out a solution.
He went on to claim that the Agri reform laws are not in favour of the farmers and repeated the protesters’ demand to give Minimum Support Price (MSP) a legal status.
As the farmer’s protest against Centre’s three farm laws entered its 20th day today, the demonstration has intensified with more and more farmers gathering at the Delhi borders, mainly, Singhu, Tikri and Gazipur.
They also demonstrated at various toll plazas across the northern states, mostly in Punjab.
Besides being seen in front of several private centres and district offices, the farmer groups in Punjab were also seen standing in the corner of the highway stretched across GT Road and several other points with their union flags and banners for masses to see.
