Lucknow, Sep 3 (UNI) Economy in Uttar Pradesh is fast returning to normal as the state has witnessed marginal rise of 6.7 per cent in the collection of revenue in August this year in comparison to the same month in 2019 .
State finance minister Suresh Kumar Khanna claimed here that there was an increase in around Rs 600 crores in collection of revenue in the month of August which is around 6.7 per cent compared to August ,2019.
However the main contributor in the government collection was the excise department which recorded an increase in over Rs 400 crores.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has lauded the effort of the state government for such increase in the collection and hoped that after making just a day , restrictions in the state, the collection in September will further increase.
Mr Khanna while talking to media persons here on Thursday said that UP has done what other states could not believe.
He said UP has revived the economy from July after April-May slump , when the collection was around 97 per cent.”But in August the state created a record of sorts in the revenue collection front,” he added.
“In August 2019, the total revenue collection was Rs 8942.76 crore but in August 2020 it went up to Rs 9545.21 crores,” Mr Khanna claimed.
He said almost all the contributors have shown upward trend in the collection.
” GST/VAT , the collection in August 2019 was Rs 5126.56 crore but this year it was Rs 5329.58 crores. Similarly in VAT, last year in August the collection was Rs 1604.26 crore but this year it was Rs 1831.60 crores, ” he added.
The state finance minister said that the excise collection witnessed the most high revenue as in August 2019 , the excise tax collected was Rs 1882.33 crores which went up to Rs 2310.27 crores this year.
Similarly in mining ,last year the collection in August was Rs 109.56 crore but this year it was 171.53 crores.
The state also collected 1309 crores from Stamps and registration and Rs 431.91 from transport department in August this year.
