Over 2.97 crore Covid-19 tests conducted in Sep

New Delhi, Sep 29 (UNI) Given the importance of investigation in the war against the Coronavirus (Covid-19), its pace is steadily picking up and 2.97 crore Covid tests were conducted in September against only 30,000 Corona tests in March.

Giving this information, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan told the regular briefing that 30,000 Covid tests were done on a monthly basis in March and this number rose to 8.64 lakh in April, 29.4 lakh in May, 49.9 lakh in June, 1.05 crore in July, 2.39 crore Corona tests in August and 2.97 crore corona tests have been done so far in September.

He said “so far, a total of 7,31,10,041 Covid tests have been done across the country.”

To step up testing capacity, the number of Covid test labs was also being continuously increased. There were 121 Covid test labs across the country in March, while the number increased to 389 in April, 669 in May, 1,049 in June, 1,331 in July, 1,587 in August and 1,836 in September.

Mr Bhushan said between August 12 and 18, on an average, 8,08,488 Covid tests were done on a weekly basis, between August 19 and 25, an average of 8,40,608 per day, between August 26 and September 1, an average of 9,28,473 per day. On an average, 10,46,470 tests were conducted per day from September 2 to September 8, average of 10,94,592 daily from September 9 to 15, average of 10,01,929 per day between September 16 and 22. Between September 23 and 29, 12,037 corona tests were performed, the official said.
