BSF has always carried out its motto ‘Lifelong Duty: Amit Shah

New Delhi, Dec1 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday greeted the Border Security Force(BSF) on its 56th Raising Day saying India is proud of its victorious premier border guarding force which has always carried out its motto ‘Life-long duty’ with its valour.

Taking to Twitter, he said, “Today @BSF_lndia On the 56th foundation day of I salute all the brave soldiers of the force for their service and dedication to the nation”.

India is proud of its victorious ‘Border Security Force, he added in his tweet message’. On the BSF raising day, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, congratulating the Force, said that the nation is proud of their indomitable valour.

The BSF, ‘India’s first line of defence’ was officially raised in accordance with an Act of the Indian Parliament on December 1, 1965, soon after the India-Pakistan War of 1965.

BSF has the distinction of having its Air and Marine wings apart from the regular contingent of jawans. This force has a separate camel contingent to guard the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan.

The Force has exponentially rode from few battalions in 1965 to 186 Battalions with a sanctioned strength of 257,363 personnel and it currently stands s the world’s largest border guarding force.

This border guarding force has been assigned the duty of of protecting India’s land boder with Pakistan and Bangladesh during peace time and to preventing transactional crime at the same time.

Like, other Central Armed Police Force, BSF is under direct control of Union Home Ministry.
