Coolest December night recorded 6.9 in Tripura

Agartala, Dec 19 (UNI) Tripura has recorded the coolest night yesterday with the mercury dropping down at 6.9 degree Celsius against the normal temperature of 11.5 degrees. However, the highest temperature has also dropped at 24.6, which is about 0.8 degrees below the normal.

The metrological official claimed, the drop of temperature at below 7 degrees has not been observed in the state in recent years and anticipated that the cold feeling might be severe this time in Tripura with normal fog. They opined this is because of clear sky and unhindered blowing of cold wind from Himalaya.

According to Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa of ICAR Research Complex here, the relative humidity in the state in the past 24 hrs had observed 100 per cent with an average wind speed of 0.6 kilometres per hour. They mentioned that the fall of temperature in previous years was reported at the end of December and early January with heavy fog but this year it became early.

The forecast, however, indicated that cold feeling will intensify further

across the state after two days.
