Tripura to form Child Right clubs in schools

Agartala, April 27 : Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights (TCPCR) on Wednesday announced to open child rights clubs in all the schools in collaboration with education department to sensitise and educate the children about their rights and self protection. Expressing serious concern over increasing incidences of sexual abuses of children, consumption of drug and other delinquent activities among the children and adolescent, TCPCR Chairperson Nilima Ghosh said besides academic curriculum, children must know their rights, self-protection mechanism and social issues they have been encountering everyday in the changing situation. Each of the schools under Tripura government would form a club with the children of all age groups where teachers will impart them training and if required TCPCR would arrange workshops for the selected teachers.

Pradyot reacts over Union Minister’s allegation of ‘instigating communal divide’

Agartala, April 27 : Tripura royal scion and TIPRA Motha Chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarman on Wednesday reacted sharply over a recent statement of Union Minister of state for empowerment and social justice Pratima Bhoumik accusing the former of 'instigating communal divide' in the name of Grater Tipraland. Pradyot labelled counter allegation against Bhoumik and charged that not only the minister, the BJP leaders anticipating the disaster of their party in upcoming assembly poll, have launched malicious campaigns on communal lines forgetting the contribution of the royal family for welfare of both tribal and non-tribal.

TSF calls off 12-hour bandh

Agartala, Jan 17 : The Twipra Students Federation (TSF) called off its dawn to dusk Tripura bandh on Monday after assurances of action against the police access to two college students on January 13 last on the charge of obstructing Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb's carcade. John Debbarma, TSF General Secretary, said that Information Minister Sushanta Chowdhury met with TSF leaders on Sunday late at night and after his intervention, the police filed an FIR against the erring traffic constable Kishore Banik at night after three days of the incident.

Special tourist train to run Agartala-Goa on Sept 30

Agartala, Aug 12 : Amid the Covid pandemic, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) have announced a Pilgrim Special Tourist Train for Goa starting from Agartala to facilitate the travellers of the state to the paradise of India’s west coast.

MoEF clears nod for 3rd unit of OTPC in South Tripura

Agartala, Apr 02 (UNI) Ministry of Environment and Forest has cleared the nod for 363 MW capacity third power generation unit in gas based combined cycle ONGC Tripura Power Company (OTPC) run biggest Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) power project at Palatana in South Tripura. Managing Director of OTPC S C Namboodiripad told media after six years of successful run of 363 MW capacity two units, the company has been in the process of finalising the gas supply deal with ONGC and estimating the per unit cost of production for third unit, which will cater the major electricity need of Northeast region.

Coolest December night recorded 6.9 in Tripura

Agartala, Dec 19 (UNI) Tripura has recorded the coolest night yesterday with the mercury dropping down at 6.9 degree Celsius against the normal temperature of 11.5 degrees. However, the highest temperature has also dropped at 24.6, which is about 0.8 degrees below the normal.

Agartala bound Rajdhani Express derailed

Tripura resumes higher classes from Dec 7

Agartala, Dec 3 (UNI) With the consent of health department, the Tripura government has announced to reopen the classes for secondary level, college and university students from the next week after a break of over nine months due to Covid-19 outbreak.
