Delhi Metro records footfall of 1.29 lakh

New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) With the services resuming on most of the Metro Lines, the total ridership witnessed on Friday’s operational hours (from 0700 hrs to 1300 hrs) in morning and from 1600 hrs till 1930 hrs in the evening was around 128886, a DMRC spokesperson said here.

Giving Linewsie breakup of approximate ridership, the spokesperson said that on Line 1, the ridership was 15485; on Line 2, it was 41689; on Line 3 and 4, it was 38623; on Line 5, it was 5825; on Line 6, it was 11119; on Line 7, it was 8678; on Line 8, it was 6953 and on Line 9, it was 514.

‘It is reiterated that actual utilisation of a Metro system is reflected from the number of journeys performed by a passenger in completing his/her journey by using one or more lines (passenger boardings or line utilisation) and not by ridership alone.

‘Therefore, the provision of sharing ridership figures is an interim arrangement, till all Lines are re-opened by September 12,’ he added.

To reflect the true utilisation of Delhi Metro’s network by passengers, the DMRC will revert to line utilisation (passenger journeys) figures after September 12 and no ridership figures will be shared, he said.
