Gold smuggling case : ED takes Sivasankar into custody

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 28 (UNI) Former Principal Secretary to the Kerala Chief Minister, M Sivasankar has been taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials on Wednesday in connection with the diplomatic baggage gold smuggling case.

The ED officials, who arrived at a private Ayurvedic hospital at Vanchiyoor, where the IAS official was undergoing treatment for back pain, took him into custody soon after the Kerala High Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of M Sivasankar.

The ED took the IAS official to its Kochi office.

Earlier, Justice Ashok Menon rejected his anticipatory bail pleas in both ED and Customs cases after taking into account Sivasankar’s WhatsApp chats with his Chartered Accountant as primary evidence in the case.
