India’s nCoV tally climbs past 69 lakh-mark, recovery rate 85.52 pc

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) India recorded a fresh spike of 70,496 Covid-19 cases during the past 24 hours, taking the country’s tally past 69 lakh mark, the Union Health Ministry data said on Friday morning.
Currently, the nation’s total case count till date stands at 69,06,152.

Also, the peninsular registered 78,365 cured or discharged cases in the same duration which has pushed the total recoveries so far to 59,06,069.

Meanwhile, there were 964 deaths due to the highly contagious virus since Thursday, pushing the death toll to 1,06,490 till date.

Active case-load on the country has decreased by 8,833 since Thursday and currently India is home to 8,93,592 active cases of the novel Coronavirus.

In terms of percentage, the active cases are 12.94 per cent, recovered at 85.52 per cent, and the deaths 1.54 per cent.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), as many as 11,68,705 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, taking the total cumulative samples tested since the beginning of the pandemic till Thursday to 8,46,34,680.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra continues to remain the worst affected state with maximum case count as well as in terms of maximum active cases.

Globally, the United States continues to remain the most-infected, followed by India and Brazil.
