Puducherry, Jul 31: DMK (North) Convener and former legislator S P Sivakumar on Saturday urged the government to take immediate steps to stop the alleged collection of special tax from two wheelers and four wheelers entering Puducherry.
In a statement, he said that it is learnt that special tax is being collected from two wheelers and four-wheelers from Tamil Nadu and other states entering Puducherry.
The government is not going to earn much revenue out of it, but may spoil the good relationship with adjoining states, he said.
Hence, Puducherry Home Minister A Namassivayam should intervene to stop the collection of special tax, Mr Sivakumar added.
