New Delhi, Sep 7 (UNI) Special Cell of Delhi Police has foiled terrorist attacks and target killings in Northern India with the arrest of two Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorists in the national capital. The police also recovered 7 pistols and 45 live rounds of ammunition from their possession after an exchange of fire that took place on Saturday night around 2300 hrs.
The two arrested were identified as 41 year old Bhupinder Singh @ Dilawar Singh,and 39 year old Kulwant Singh, both belonging to Ludhiana, Punjab.
The police had received special intelligence input regarding the movement and activities of the two BKI terrorists suspected to commit anti national activities and had come to Delhi in view of receiving a huge cache of arms and ammunition to execute their plans.
A trap was laid near underpass on Burari to Majlis Park road, Delhi on Saturday around 2300 hours, where on arrival the accused were correctly identified in a car and were overpowered by the team members after brief exchange of fire.
They had initially been asked to stop. However, they opened fire on the police team.
It was during interrogation, they disclosed their identity as mentioned above.
They are hardcore supporters of Khalistan movement who were planning to execute target killings in various states in northern India on the directions of Pakistan ISI sponsored Khalistani leaders, the police said.
The arrested persons have disclosed their links with BKI and KCF leaders settled abroad and revealed their plans to commit target killings on instructions from Khalistani militants sponsored by Pakistan ISI.
They were active on social media platforms and allegedly shared high radical contents on the facebook account sharing various posts and videos related to Khalistan and SYL issue.
Accordingly, a case was registered under appropriate sections of law.
Further probe is underway in the matter. They were also wanted in cases in Punjab.
