Bhagat Singh Koshyari appointed as Governor of another state

Governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshyari was appointed  as the Governor of Goa on Wednesday with a simple ceremony hosted at the Raj Bhavan. Koshyari, who replaces Satya Pal Malik, will hold a additional charge as the Governor of Goa.

Malik left in a special flight from Goa’s Dabolim airport, early Wednesday and to take charge as the Governor of Meghalaya replacing Tathagata Roy.

The Governor was appointed by the Dipankar Datta ,Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, who also flew down to Goa just for the ceremony.

Koshyari took oath as a Governor in Konkani, official language of Goa read it  out from the text and despite few fumbling appeared quite deft at the language.

On his arrival to the state, he was welcomed  by CM Pramod Sawant, Digambar Kamat- leader of Opposition and  Parimal Rai, chief secretary.

It is believed that Malik was transferred out of Goa as his relationship with CM Pramod Sawant soured due to his differences with the chief minister on about three occasions. He also often hosted delegations of people and politicians, who sought his intervention on different issues.
