Congress appoints Ajay Makhen as New General Secretary of Rajasthan

Ajay Maken replaced Avinash Pande  after Sanchin Pilot’s truce.

The Congress on16 August, Sunday  appointed Ajay Maken, a senior party leader as the new general secretary in charge for Rajasthan by replacing Avinash Pande.

The Congress  party chief Sonia Gandhi has formed  a three member committee including senior party leader, Ahmed Patel,  , Organisation KC Venugopal, general secretary in-charge Organisation and Ajay Maken as panel  members to resolve the issues raised by Sachin Pilot unit  in Rajasthan earlier this month.

The committee formed  to take in line of action  as per the assurances given to the former Deputy Chief minister,  Sachin Pilot for his grievance around the Rajasthan chief minister in charge Ashok Gehlot and various other party related matter.

The news of appointment comes in the presence of Sachin Pilot and other 18 MLAs who were revolting against the functioning of CM Ashok Gehlot and have rejoined the Congress party. Sanchin Pilot was removed from the post as Deputy CM of the state and the chief of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee after his differences with Ashok Gehlot came out in limelight triggering as a political crisis in Rajasthan and in his place Govind Singh Dotasra was appointed  as the RPCC Chief soon after Avinash Pandey dissolved  RPCC on July 15.

After returning to party, former deputy CM demanded removal of Avinash Pandey from the post, according to the sources.

Pilot tweeted : “Your appointment will definitely boost the expectations of Rajasthan Congress workers. I welcome Ajay Maken ji to Veer Bhoomi Rajasthan with a bright future.”

After the span of 5years, Ajay Makhen has returned to the All India Congress Committee. Maken was sent as observer during the political turmoil by the party to Rajasthan to help and resolve the differences and keep the government united and save from the possibility of losing the majority in the state assembly. He has a lot of experience, earlier served as the Delhi Congress chief.
