Rajkumar Imo Singh, the Manipur Congress MLA was expelled from the party on Thursday for 6 years on the basis of his Anti-party activities, said sources in the state unit. The exclusion order was issued by Hareshwar Goshwami, General Secretary of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee.

The decision was taken based on the recommendation of Congress disciplinary committee of the state.

A legislator in Sagolband assembly constituency, Imo Singh is a son-in-law of N Biren Singh, the CM of Manipur.

He is the son of veteran Late RK Jaichandra Singh, who was a former Union minister and also has served as a Manipur chief minister in the past. In the recent Rajya Sabha election,Singh had voted for BJP candidate, Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba along with another party legislator, even after there was a Congress candidate in the election. The Congress candidate was defeated in the assembly poll.

On last Sunday, Singh accompanied the chief minister to the national capital along with the six former congress MLAs to meet the BJP leadership. Except for MLA Md Abdul Nasir, the rest of the five MLAs joined BJP in Delhi. The six MLAs who were among the eight Congress party  legislators skipping the confidence vote taken by the BJP government that was headed by Biren Singh, had resigned from both the memberships including the Assembly and primary membership of the party. Biren Singh on 10th August had happily won the trust vote.
