The Congress candidate was defeated in the assembly poll.

On last Sunday, Singh accompanied the chief minister to the national capital along with the six former congress MLAs to meet the BJP leadership. Except for MLA Md Abdul Nasir, the rest of the five MLAs joined BJP in Delhi. The six MLAs who were among the eight Congress party  legislators skipping the confidence vote taken by the BJP government that was headed by Biren Singh, had resigned from both the memberships including the Assembly and primary membership of the party.
