Enthusiastic Farmers Thronged in Krishi Mela-2022 of SKUAST-Jammu on Day 4

To sensitise the farmer and common masses about the benefits of natural farming, a workshop on ‘Natural Farming’ was organised on the fourth day of Krishi Mela 2022 of SKUAST Jammu. Dr.Vikas Sharma, convener of the workshop welcomed the guest and elaborated about the activities being undertaken by organic farming research centre, SKUAST Jammu. Smt. Anuradha Gupta, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Chief guest of the function informed the house about the initiative taken by Government of India and Government of Jammu and Kashmir in the field of organic and natural farming so that more and more farmers get attracted towards this type of farming.

TRAINING PROGRAMME ON SCOPE, AVENUES AND CULTIVATION OF MEDICINAL MUSHROOMS HELD...

Two days training programme on Scope, Avenues and Cultivation of medicinal Mushrooms was held at Mushroom Unit, SKUAST-J under the aegis of State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) and in collaboration with Division of Plant Pathology. The training programme was held for the officers of Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The trainees were given hands on training on various aspects of cultivation of medicinal mushrooms. During the training programme special lectures and practical sessions were held on substrate preparation and inoculation techniques for cultivation of different mushrooms.

India has not signed COP-26 Action Agenda on Sustainable Agriculture

New Delhi, Nov 9 : Government on Tuesday clarified India has not signed the COP-26 Action Agenda on Sustainable Agriculture at the ongoing Climate summit at Glasgow, adding that several steps are being taken to ensure sustainable agriculture in the country. Issuing a clarification on reports which said India had signed the agenda, an official statement said, "India has not signed up for Sustainable Agriculture Policy Action Agenda during the COP-26 Climate Summit."

Jammu, October 05 ; One day training programme entitled “Transfer of Technology for Management of Alternate Bearing Problem through Hormonal Intervention in Mango Varieties at Jammu Region” was organized at Rajenderpura, Distt - Samba, by NABARD Jammu and Division of Plant Physiology, Faculty of Basic sciences under the aegis of SKUAST – Jammu. In this training, farmers from villages Rajenderpura, Simbalbali and farmers from nearby villages participated. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, I/C Regional Research Sub Station for sub tropical fruits, Raya, welcome the august gathering and delivered a talk on challenges of fruit production in Kandi Belt. Mr Shailesh Sharma, DDM- Samba, NABARD – Jammu and Kashmir delivered a lecture on various programmes launched by NABARD in favour of farmers. Dr Bhav Kumar Sinha, PI of the project, delivered a talk on “How to prepare pits near the tree trunk for treatment in Mango orchards” and gives training for orchard management. Farmer Mr. Baldev Raj discussed his experiences and benefits of the treatment of paclobutrazol in the mango orchard.

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu is organizing five days Northern India regional Agriculture Fair – 2021 w.e.f October 07-11, 2021 at Main Campus, Chatha. Prof. J.P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and Chief Patron of the Agriculture Fair during interaction with Press and Media inform that the Northern India regional Agriculture Fair – 2021 would focus on demonstration of the transferable technologies developed by the university to improve agricultural productivity, profitability and sustainability in the Jammu region. Shri Manoj SinhaJi, Hon’ble Lt. Governor, UT of J&K has very kindly consented to be the Chief Guest on inaugural function of this five days mega event of Regional Agriculture Fair on 8th October, 2021.

Export Awareness Programme for Agri-Startups at SKUAST-Jammu

JAMMU, Under the Dynamic Leadership of Prof. J. P. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Export Awareness Programme was conducted by Officers of Directorate General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India and organized by Agri-Business Incubator of SKUAST-Jammu (A Unit of Division of Agricultural Economics and ABM). The programme was organised under the supervision of Prof. Jyoti Kachroo, Head (AEABM) and P.I (RKVY-RAFTAAR) for the incubates undergoing training programme as a part of the RKVY-RAFTAAR activity. Faculty of the Division, staff of Agribusiness Incubator and Students of MBA (ABM), M.Sc. and Ph.D (Agricultural Economics) also attended the programme. The programme started with the welcome address by Prof. Jyoti Kachroo. During the programme Mr. Banerjee, Assistant Director, DGFT; Ms. Aruna Narula, Member, DGFT and Mr. Gagan Jain, MD, VKC nuts interacted and delivered lectures about the Export procedures and schemes for the budding entrepreneurs and start-ups. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Anil Bhat, Assistant Professor (Agricultural Economics). The programme ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Sudhakar Dwivedi, Assoc. Prof. (Agricultural Economics).

Jammu : Shere-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu is organizing two days Innovative Farmers Conference on “Farmer Led Innovations for Enhancing Farm Income” to harness first-hand experiences of innovative farmers, at Main Campus, Chatha from February 23-24, 2021. Prof. J.P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and Chief Patron of the conference hopes that the two days conference will address the emerging challenges of agriculture like declining farm size, deterioration of soil health, groundwater depletion, increase in cost of production, labour scarcity and climatic shocks etc, which is essential for efficient, sustainable and inclusive development of agriculture and to realize Prime Ministers' vision of doubling farmers' income.

Food Processing Industry is 32 pc of India’s food market: Tomar

New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI) Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Food Processing Industries, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Narendra Singh Tomar on Friday said the Indian food processing sector is 32 per cent of the country's food market. Mr Tomar virtually inaugurated the India - International Food and Agri Week, being organised from October 16-22.
