NIA files chargesheet in NSCN extortion case

New Delhi, Dec 29 (UNI) The anti terror probe agency NIA on Tuesday said that it has filed a chargesheet against five accused persons before Dimapur NIA court under section 120B of IPC, section 17, 18 and 21 of the UA (P) Act, section 5 (b) of the Explosive Substance Act, section 25 (1A) read with 35 of Arms Act, section 7 and 8 of Nagaland Security Regulation (NSR), Section 12 of Passport Act and Section 6 of Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act.

The chargesheeted accused are of Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland- Issak Muiva (NSCN-IM) self styled Colonel Rayilung Nsarangbe aka Pela, LamciIralu aka KeyilamcilungIralu, Zingshongam Muinao aka Zingsho, Ruth Chawang akak, and Ramningle Pame aka Ramning.

The NIA officials said that this case was related to the recovery of Rs 1,58,72,800 along with illegal arms, ammunition, explosives, and incriminating documents, from the residential premises of self styled colonel Rayilung Nsarangbe of NSCN (IM) and his wife Ruth Chawang.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) during the course of investigation had revealed well organized extortion racket by NSCN (IM) involving criminal intimidation of various companies undertaking road construction projects in Manipur.

“The developmental funds of the Government have been illegally diverted in an organised manner and collected by NSCN(IM) operatives through extortion by committing a terrorist act punishable under UA(P) Act”, the probe agency officials said.

Investigation has further revealed that NSCN (IM) has also laundered the proceeds of terrorism into various financial instruments and real estate investments in the process of layering of the extorted fund, the central terror probe agency said, adding that accused Ramningle Pame was an elected member of Autonomous Council of District Taemnglong, Manipur and has been assisting NSCN(IM) in collection of the extortion amount demanded by them.

Further investigation in the case has been continued.
