Covid-19: Marathwada registers 4,889 more cases, 104 fatalities

Aurangabad, May 11 (UNI) Marathwada region in Maharashtra recorded 4,889 more cases of Covid-19 and 104 fatalities during the past 24 hours, informed health authorities.

Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI show that out of the eight districts of the region, Aurangabad district was the worst-affected as it recorded 655 new cases and 24 deaths, followed by Latur which had 696 cases and 18 deaths, Beed had 1295 cases and 15 deaths, Osmanabad had 833 new cases and 14 deaths, Nanded recorded 294 cases and 12 deaths, Jalna had 697 cases and eight deaths, Parbhani registered 374 cases and eight deaths and Hingoli 45 cases and five deaths.

Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 37,326 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, mounting the total number of infections to 51,38,273. The state also registered 549 more deaths, taking the death toll to 76,398.

Meanwhile, a record 61,607 patients recovered in the state, taking the total number of recoveries to 44,69,425. The state’s recovery rate has climbed to 86.97 per cent and the fatality rate stands at 1.49 per cent.

At present, there are 5,90,818 active patients across the state undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals, added the health authorities.

In view of the rising number of cases, the state government has extended strict restrictions in the state till May 15 under the ‘break the chain’ initiative. Emergency services have been exempted.
