Lok Sabha adjourned till 1600 hrs

New Delhi, Aug 5 (UNI) Protests continued in Lok Sabha on Thursday and the House was adjourned for the third time till 1600 hrs. A Bill for establishing a Central University in Ladakh was also introduced.
The House was adjourned till 1600 hrs within minutes of meeting.

As soon as the House met, Opposition MPs started raising slogans and some MPs trooped near the Speaker’s podium. Amid ruckus, the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2021 was introduced in the House.

Congress MP Manish Tewari objected to it and said it was against democracy to pass bills without debate. As protests continued, Kakoli Ghosh Dastuar, who was in the Chair, adjourned the House till 1600 hrs.

The Lower House saw two adjournments in the first half, first soon after it met at 1100 hrs, and the second when the House reassembled at 1200 hrs.

The Monsoon Session of Parliament which started on July 19, has been witnessing a stalemate, with the Opposition protesting over issues like Pegasus snooping controversy, farm laws and price rise.

The Government has blamed the Opposition for stalling Parliament.

Opposition leaders have, meanwhile, said that the government is blocking the proceedings by not agreeing for a debate on the Pegasus issue.
