PM condoles passing away of RS MP Abhay Bharadwaj

New Delhi, Dec 1 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed grief over the demise of prominent lawyer and Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat, Abhay Bharadwaj.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the Prime Minister posted, ‘Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat, Shri Abhay Bharadwaj Ji was a distinguished lawyer and remained at the forefront of serving society. It is sad we have lost a bright and insightful mind, passionate about national development. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti,’ he added.

The BJP MP from Gujarat died at a Chennai hospital due to COVID-induced complications. The 66-year-old was elected to the Rajya Sabha in June this year. He had tested positive for Novel Coronavirus on August 31, after attending party meetings and a roadshow in Rajkot.

Following the instructions of Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Bharadwaj was admitted to the Rajkot Civil Hospital. After his condition deteriorated, the BJP stalwart was airlifted to Chennai in October.
