SAD’s Delhi unit asks members to resign from posts in civic corporations

New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) The Delhi unit of Shiromani Akali Dal on Monday asked its members to resign from their respective posts in the municipal corporations that were in alliance with the BJP, and not to have any relations with the BJP and NDA, after the the SAD severed its alliance with the NDA over the new Farmer Welfare laws.

Addressing a press conference, SAD’s Delhi Unit chief Harmeet Singh Kalka said the decision was taken in the core committee meeting of the party unit here, where the future course of action was also discussed.

He said the party’s unit in Delhi is in support of its national leadership, as SAD has always stood with the farmers and raised the voice in their favour and will continue to do the same in the future.

‘No matter how many sacrifices need to be made for the farmers, we will not stop,’ he added.

Paramjit Singh Rana, Councillor from Rajinder Nagar Ward, Chairman of Social Justice and Law Committee

in North Delhi Municipal Corporation, Manpreet Kaur Kalka, Councillor from Kalkaji Ward, Licence and Tehbazari Committee in South Delhi Municipal Corporation Raja Iqbal Singh, Vice-Chairman and Councillor from GTB Nagar Ward is the Chairman of Civil Lines Zone of North Delhi Municipal Corporation.

Mr Kalka informed that Manpreet Kaur Kalka gave tendered her resignation, soon after the core committee meeting.

Senior SAD leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal had recently resigned from the Union Cabinet, while the SAD had parted ways with the NDA over the issue of new farmer laws.
