Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu successfully started Vocational Training Course on “Mushroom Cultivation Techniques”

Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu successfully started Vocational Training Course on “Mushroom Cultivation Techniques” for rural youth in collaboration with Indian Army. Prof. S. K. Prof. & Head Division of Plant Pathology SKUAST-Jammu, Dr. Vikas Tandon, Prof. School of Biotechnology, Sh. Des Raj Barua, SDAO R. S. Pura and other officers of line departments attended the inaugural function. Prof. Jagdish Prasaad Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu joined the inaugural session via online mode and in his Presidential Address he appreciated the KVK Jammu for organizing vocational training on Mushroom for rural youth in collaboration with Indian Army. He suggested that besides learning new techniques of Mushroom Cultivation trainees should also focus on processing, value addition, marketing and branding making this enterprise more profitable. At the outset Dr. Punit Choudhary, Sr. Scientist and Head, KVK Jammu welcomed the dignitaries’ and participants in to the programme.

He also said that this training is organized to enhance the Mushroom production and involve various rural youths in this enterprise in Jammu District. Speaking on the occasion Prof. S. K. Gupta, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu congratulated the KVK Jammu for organizing the training programme for rural youths and asked the participants to take benefit of the expertise of the scientists for setting up their own units. Regiment, praised the KVK Jammu for continuously organizing Vocational Trainings for rural youths on different enterprises and imparting them new techniques. Sh. Rajan Sharma, Joint Director
Extension, Directorate of Agriculture Jammu, also apprised the farmers regarding various governmental schemes for rural youths and farmers for establishing new units. Dr. Amrish Vaid, Prof. & Head Division of Plant Pathology SKUAST-Jammu, stressed upon round the year cultivation of Mushrooms while interacting with the participants he also asked the participants to learn the spawn production techniques and adopt it as an enterprise. during her interaction spoke about the value addition in Mushrooms. Dr. Muneeshwar Sharma, Scientist Plant Protection, KVK Jammu gave a brief description and outline of the course and elaborated upon the objective of conducting this Vocational training. Dr. Ravneet Kour, Scientist Horticulture, Dr. Prem Kumar, Scientist Fisheries, Dr. Amitesh Sharma, Scientist Plant Breeding also shared their experiences during interaction with the participants.
